Independent Study Projects (ISPs) Options!!

Dear students,

As our trip draws closer, we wanted to talk a bit about Independent Study Projects (ISPs) to get you all thinking about topics that might be of interests to you. ISPs are an important part of a Dragons course. It’s an opportunity for you to get hands on experience in different crafts or topics that you are passionate about. Lucky for our students, we are the only group who gets the unique opportunity to take on ISP in two different countries, Nepal and Bhutan! During our time in urban homestay in Nepal and rural homestay in Bhutan, you will get to choose a topic to learn from local experts and mentors.

The list of ISPs below is by no means an exhaustive list but it gives you an idea of some of the projects that have been frequently chosen by the students in the past. Once you get to connect with the instructor team, please communicate to us if there’s anything that you feel very passionate about that is not in the list. We will try our best to help arrange that.

Our intention in providing this list is to help you start thinking about possible topics of interests. We will have also have a more thorough discussions on what all these ISPs are when we all meet here in Nepal. Hopefully after strolling through the streets of Nepal and Bhutan, you will be able to find that which inspires you.

Here are some ISP options for Nepal:
1. Stone and Woodcarving
3. Wheat stalk art
4. Traditional Newari cooking
5. Yoga and philosophy

Here are some ISP options for Bhutan:
1. Traditional Archery
2. Traditional Bhutanese Cooking
3. Traditional art
4. Textile and fabric weaving
5. Farming

Hope you are excited! We sure are!
