Cambodia Summer Program.

What we saw

We saw an innocent school building turned into a symbol of genocide.

We saw people removed from their homes, guns blazing, and a Khmer Rouge flag standing tall and proud.

We saw countless pictures of victims, prison cells, and interrogation rooms.

We saw shackles, torture devices, and false confessions.

We saw guards and prisoners, kill or be killed.

We saw America, dropping bombs in the name of capitalism, yet staying silent as genocide raged.

We saw pleas for revenge, for peace, for justice.

We saw a country, irreparably damaged, trying to fix the holes in society that had been created.

We saw anguish.

We saw suffering.

We saw pain.

We saw S21, a torture camp for victims of the Khmer Rouge.
