Hike in Langmusi

For a majority of this course we have been in cities all around the Yangtze river, today we were able to get a refreshing break from the concrete streets and crowded buildings in the small town Langmusi. Located on the southern part of the Tibetan Plateau, we are surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. Today we went on a hike into a gorge, following along a creek. It felt like the farther we trekked from the town, the farther we traveled back in time. The views reminded me of something that would have been described in Lord of The Rings or Narnia. Horses and Yaks were scattered along the trail, and we made sure to give them a wide birth. This hike was also a very eclectic experience, being in such a raw, natural enviroment when only days prior I was in some of the largest cities in the world. This course has really helped me see the diversity of China and it’s development and infrastructure.
