¡Hola a todos!
My name is Teva (yes, like the shoes!!!) and I love eating, taking photos, running, talking, sleeping, reading, hiking, and listening to music (some favorites include: Wild Child, The Beatles, The Head and the Heart, Chance the Rapper, Rex Orange County, and Frank Ocean).
I am still in school right now, so it’s hard to picture the fact that in less than a month we’re all going to be in the beautiful mountains of Peru.
I’m really excited to immerse myself in the Peruvian culture and make connections with people we’ll meet and the land we will be traveling on. It can be a bit overwhelming living in an urban environment, so this course will serve the crucial role of helping me escape the city for a little while, and be surrounded by nature. I can’t wait.
Pachamama! Pachamama, or Mother Nature, presides over the Earth and all its beings. I think that Pachamama must serve an important role to the rural communities that we will be visiting because their lives depend on her. Without Pachamama, food can’t be grown. Pachamama helps us to understand that there is something greater than us and we, as humans, don’t have full control over the Earth.
I am counting down the days until we all meet! Happy Summer!!! (and to those still in school, finish strong, and happy almost summer!)
