Bolivian Food & Music

Hi Everyone,

My name is James Shuttleworth, I’m 18 years old and live in Cape Town, South Africa. I am so excited to meet you all and share the adventures which lie ahead!

I have chosen ‘Al Final’ by Los Kjarkas as my favourite Bolivian song thus far. I love the high tempo and energy of the song and can appreciate the skilful playing of the string instruments. I can’t comment much on the meaning of the song as I do not speak any Spanish, coming from South Africa. It is something I wish to learn while in Bolivia. Al Final can be listened to at

My food of choice is Charque de Llama. I chose this food because in South Africa we have a similar food called Biltong which is deep rooted in our heritage. Biltong was commonly eaten by the early settlers during their expeditions throughout South Africa. I believe it will be interesting to explore the similarities and differences between Biltong and Charque de Llama.

Although I have notified the Dragons Admin Team, I wanted to reiterate that the only suitable flight I was able to get into Miami lands at 17:00 – thus I will be arriving slightly later than the other students. I hope this is not an issue.

Looking forward to meeting you all in a few days time!
