Hello Dragons!

My name is Jose Pablo Torres and I’m very excited to be a part of this summers Yangtze River Program.

I am 17 years old and I am currently in 11th grade. I was born in Mexico City and I have lived here my whole life. I play soccer and tennis. I have two younger sisters and three dogs that I love very much. One of my hobbies is eating at restaurants because I love food and how it changes depending on the cuisine and the chef cooking it. My favorite thing to do is traveling, I love getting to know new cultures and places and that is one of the reasons why I signed up for this course.

I study at a school called Colegio Vista Hermosa and have been there since preschool, however, I had the amazing opportunity of studying abroad for a year; during 7th grade I studied at a boarding school called Cardigan Mountain School in New Hampshire.

This will be my first time in Asia and I am really looking forward to learning about a completely different culture and way of life. I believe that all of us will take valuable lessons and unforgettable experiences home after our summer ends. I am excited about trying out new cuisines, learning about new regions and their geographical, political, religious and cultural characteristics and getting to know people with a completely different way of viewing life.

I am also excited about meeting you, the people with whom I will share this experience.  I hope to hear form fellow students soon!

I can’t wait to begin this wonderful trip.

See you in LA!
