Instructor Intro – Looking forward to connecting with you all!

Namaste, Hello!

I hope everyone is doing well and super psyched for the summer adventure waiting for you just around the corner! My name is Dave and along with Shanti and Rishi, I am part of the Nepal I-Team.

I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone coming to join us here in the stunning and vibrant Nepal. Before I say a little about myself, I want to say congratulations on making the decision to spend your summer on a Dragons course – it’s going to be unforgettable. I expect you’ll be excited, apprehensive and maybe even a little scared of what you’re getting yourself into. That’s cool. It’s normal. The comfort zones we build up around ourselves are just that – comfortable. Getting out of them is uncomfortable but so rewarding and potentially life changing. So embrace the adventure and look forward to some unexpected learnings and unpredictable experiences.

I’m originally from the UK, but have been living in Nepal since 2013. Before moving to Nepal I travelled around the world primarily exploring farms and permaculture centres to learn how permaculture ethics and principles are being applied in different cultures and climates. Before that, I’ve worked as a forest manager, ecologist, rock climbing instructor, hiking guide and camp counsellor.

Fast forward back to now and I am setting up my own permaculture learning centre here in Nepal with my wife who is a Kathmandu local. We have also begun the exciting adventure of starting our own company promoting traditional Nepali handicrafts and cottage industries through our own product designs. I am an avid rock climber and lover of nature and the wilderness. Having grown up in the UK and lived in Nepal for the past 5 years I have an insight into this cross-cultural experience and immersion which I am psyched to share with you and see you all experience for yourself.

I’ll leave you with a quote* I have learned to be compelling: “You’ll meet plenty of people in the later years who have not travelled or taken risks who regret those decisions, but those who have travelled and live to regret it are seldom found.”

See you soon!

*I say quote although I have forgotten exactly how it goes!
