Hello from your Instructor!

“Kuzuzangpo la”, hello everyone!

I am very excited and filled with curiosity about our journey into the “Land of Happiness”, Bhutan together.

I would like to introduce myself. To start with me, my name is Topaz Sitling. I was born and raised in the Himalayas. I currently live in Kalimpong, a small hill town, between Bhutan and Nepal. I am passionate about travelling and exploring new cultures, meeting new people, and exploring new places. In addition to that, I enjoy a number of other things like working with local youth and empowering them, learning to build and fix mechanical things, playing the guitar and cooking. I have always been inspired by thinking outside the box, looking for what is behind the ordinary, and getting to know the world. There are so many insights a person can gain when meeting new people from different cultures.

Having worked in different fields of education and life I have come across people with interesting life experiences, beliefs and different tastes of life. I have visited communities with great knowledge about their culture, religion and cultivation of crops which can be found nowhere else. Being a local to the eastern Himalayan region specially Sikkim, Bhutan and West Bengal, I frequently travel between these places due to work, family ties and relations.

I am so happy that you chose to travel to this side of the world, Bhutan. Where you will enter into a country and culture that can be in some ways very different than the one you grew up in. I fell in love with Bhutan, the people, and the natural beauty of the place since my first visit there many many years ago. I truly believe it will be a life changing journey for you. Which I hope inspires you for the rest of your life.

I am excited to be working alongside Nick and Rebecca together to help create an amazing experience for you all here in Bhutan. If you have any specific questions you can also Email me at

See you all soon!
