Bolivia Pre-Trip

Primarily, I found the first quote from the article really engaging, making me want to read on to better understand what it meant: “We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next, to find ourselves.” Further into the text, he elaborates on this point through describing the benefits he personally gets through “leaving all my beliefs and certainties at home, and seeing everything I thought I knew in a different light, and from a crooked angle. I also thought it was interesting how he described the learning experience you can gain from travel and what you can discover about yourself. He writes “But there is, for the traveler at least, the sense that learning about home and learning about a foreign world can be one and the same thing.”
