“A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent upon arriving.”

Stephen Mitchell’s translation of the opening line of Chapter 27 in Tao Te Ching.

As we prepare to embark on our journey to China, I ask that all of you consider the quote above and post your thoughts on the Yak board as well. Consider the following questions:

  • How do you interpret the quote above with respect to your previous travel experiences and our upcoming time in Yunnan province?
  • Do you find anything about the quote problematic? Is there anything about it that makes you uncomfortable?
  • What would it mean for you personally to adopt this as a guiding principle during our time in China?

In addition to reflecting on your thoughts about the quote, I would ask that you also provide a brief introduction of yourself, why you decided to join this course, and specific areas of interest that you hope to learn about and experience during our time together.
