Hi There!

Hi everyone! My name is Mary Renwick, but I go by Mary Ren. I can’t believe our grand adventure is only a week away! I have been looking forward to this trip since the beginning of my gap year. I am extremely excited to improve my Spanish skills, learn more about Bolivian and Peruvian culture, and expand my knowledge of environmental conservation.

Just a quick About Me:
Number of Siblings: 2 younger sisters
Desert Island Books: The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr – I’m a big reader, if you have any recommendations please let me know!
Favorite Movie: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Favorite School Subjects: Choir, Music Theory and English
Favorite TV Show: Parks and Recreation
Ideal Saturday Afternoon: taking a walk through a park and eating a picnic lunch
Hobbies: singing, embroidering, painting, cooking, playing guitar/ukulele, reading

I have spent the majority of my gap year anxiously awaiting this programs arrival, and now that the time has come I find myself nervous but excited. Taking a gap year is not popular where I’m from, and I have found my time working two jobs at home to be a little lonely. I can’t wait to meet you all and to be a part of a group people who are interested in traveling, stepping outside of their comfort zones, and embracing new experiences with their arms wide open.

See you soon!
