Snowball fights in Beding

Dear friends and family

I am just writing to let you know that I got word from the group, and they are all safe and healthy on the trail. They have reached the small village of Beding, which sits above 12000ft. As they wound up the valley, snow began to fall until it lay at about an inch on the ground. Of course that led to a snowball fight, followed by endless rounds of tea to keep warm. The clear skies were brightened by the full moon over the weekend, exposing the group to spectacular views of the white-capped peak of Gauri Shankar. Today they will be slowly ascending to high camp at the Tso Rolpa lakes.

The students have all loved the trek so far and it has quickly become one of the highlights of the trip for them! I will post more news here in a few days when the group come back in range. With best wishes to you all,

Claire, Himalayan Program Director
